Belonged to Fitz William Sargent, drowned October 18, 1818 in Gloucester Harbor. Son of Fitz William Sargent IV, youngest brother of Judith Sargent Murray
made from flax seized from an English ship captured during the War of 1812. The flax was spun and made in Maine by a group of women quilt makers for Lucy Foster Rogers whose sister, Mary Elizabeth, married Herbert Redding Sargent. B K Hough was their step-father. The sister,Mary Elizabeth ,was married here at the Sargent House.
