The oldest Bible in The Sargent House Museum collection was published in London in 1677. It had an intimate connection with the Battle of the Bayne, which was fought in Ireland in 1690, a war which sent James Il fleeing to France, ended hope of Catholic rule in England forever, and ensured religious and political strife between Ireland and England up to modern times.
