Eglomise refers to process of applying both a design and gilding on glass to produce a mirror finish. Painted in reverse, on glass. American. Depicted battle of War of 1812, which took place about 400 miles southeast of Halifax, NS (appoximately off Newport, RI). The creation date of the mirror is questionable as 2 conservators judged the painting to be a reproduction.

a 3 x 5 leather-bound book titled The Oeconomy of Human Life. In 1767, at the age of 16, Judith Sargent Murray wrote her name and the year on the title page, including the comment, "the best book that ever was written."
The oldest Bible in The Sargent House Museum collection was published in London in 1677. It had an intimate connection with the Battle of the Bayne, which was fought in Ireland in 1690, a war which sent James Il fleeing to France, ended hope of Catholic rule in England forever, and ensured religious and political strife between Ireland and England up to modern times. Mary Sargent Johnson was from the Paul Dudley Sargent side of the family., Paul Dudley was Judith's uncle via her grandfather's second wife. Mary Sargent Johnson lived in New Brunswick and Maine. (Paul Dudley died in Maine)
